YÖKDİL tests the academic English of candidates in Health Sciences, Science or Social Sciences. Its structure is close to YDS, but field-specific vocabulary and passage style make the preparation process different.
Choose and understand your field
Do not study from a random mixture of texts. Health passages repeat the language of research, symptoms, treatment and outcomes; Science passages use technical cause-and-effect; Social Sciences often develop arguments, comparisons and interpretation.
Build a terminology system
Create vocabulary groups around recurring concepts rather than one endless list. Record word families, common partners and the sentence in which the word appeared. Review at planned intervals.
Read for structure
Academic passages often signal definition, contrast, cause, result and evidence through predictable connectors. Recognising that structure helps you understand unfamiliar sentences without translating every word.
Analyse question families
Work separately on vocabulary, grammar, cloze tests, sentence completion, translation and reading comprehension. Keep an error log that states why the correct answer works and why your chosen option failed.
Protect time with a test routine
Decide how long you will spend on each section and practise that order. If a question is consuming too much time, mark it and return. A routine reduces decision fatigue on exam day.
Review mock tests by cause
Classify lost points as vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, careless reading or time pressure. The next study block should respond to the cause rather than repeat another full test immediately.
Plan your target score
Our YÖKDİL programme combines field-specific reading, terminology, question strategy and timed practice. Take the level assessment and contact us with your field and target.
